The VATAT Professional Development Conference for the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Cluster is a week-long conference for agriculture science teachers in Texas to attend educational workshops and training classes to enhance their current teaching methods and to keep up with the latest curriculum developments in agricultural education. The VATAT Professional Development Conference is the only educational conference in Texas that is free of charge for its members. The VATAT Professional Development Conference will be held on July 30-August 3, 2012 in Amarillo, Texas.
During the VATAT Professional Development Conference, teachers will attend timely workshops demonstrating how to implement these courses for other credit into the classroom.
Agriculture science teachers will earn Continued Professional Education (CPE) hours for workshops offered during the conference. Decisions regarding the Texas FFA Association and updates in CDEs will also take place during this week-long professional development conference.
In Texas, there is an estimated 1,600 agricultural science and technology teachers impacting more than 100,000 students enrolled in agricultural education classes at the secondary level. Celebrating 73 years, the Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas is headquartered in Austin, and its mission is preparing educators to develop 21st Century leaders in agriculture through excellence in education, citizenship and cooperation.
